Patron Poll - Which mod should I make next?
Added 2023-02-03 02:51:59 +0000 UTCCyberpunk 2077 - Exotics:
Believe it or not, the tabletop RPG series that Cyberpunk 2077 is based on includes furries- the "Exotics" are people who turn themselves into human-animal hybrids through surgery and genetic modification. The lore is compelling enough that I'd planned to make a mod that turned the PC and some of the important NPCs into exotics- and maybe added other things like billboards with advertisements for exotic surgeries and so on- as soon as the game released. However, with the game's disastrous launch and lukewarm reviews, I've put that project off. I could, however, make that now.
Elden Ring - Half-Animal Tarnished:
Everyone seems to think that Elden Ring is a masterpiece, and I've been meaning to try it. The setting apparently includes some half-animal characters, and there are a few non-human character creation options, so a half-animal player character might fit in to the setting without too much immersion-breaking- possibly I could explain it as a human cursed by one of the setting's demigods? I think I'd probably start with either a pine marten or a cheetah, and maybe add some other options later depending on interest.
Mount & Blade II - Were-Creatures:
The setting of the Mount & Blade action/strategy series doesn't actually include supernatural elements, but it is a secondary world rather than anything trying to be historically accurate, so I don't think were-creatures would clash too badly. The idea would be to add in a few new options for the playable character and recruitable soldiers- werewolves, were-cats, maybe kitsune- possibly with some minor gameplay effects in addition to the cosmetics. I'm not very familiar with the engine, so creating this mod would be a bit more time-consuming than some of the other options.
Baldur's Gate III - Tabaxi Race:
In Dungeons & Dragons, the Tabaxi are a race of playable cat-people. I think I can add them as an option in the new Baldur's Gate RPG. This would also be a pretty difficult mod to build, since it would involve a lot of different cosmetic options, some significant gameplay changes, and I'd also need to find a way to modify or remove in-game dialog referencing the player's race. AI text-to-speech models fine-tuned on the game's vanilla dialog might provide an interesting solution to that last problem.
Into The Breach - Avali Pilots:
I've actually already made this mod, although four of the six custom portraits were modifications of other peoples' avali illustrations, so I'm not sure it would be ethical to release as-is. I could, however, draw some new avali portraits from scratch, which I can design to match the game's art style and which would all include damaged mech variants. This would be the easiest mod to create, since it would just involve a few low-resolution 2D images.
Skyrim - Khajiit Appearance Overhaul:
The Khajiit in Skyrim have never looked all that good, even with existing mods like CoverKhajiit and the digitigrade mod. The problem is the combination of a model that tries to represent thick lynx fur with a single low-polygon mesh along with the overly simplistic way the color overlays are applied, which leaves the texture looking pretty bad with anything other than white or black fur. The entire thing really needs to be re-done from scratch. Unfortunately, the quality I could achieve with this mod would be a bit limited by the engine- also, pretty much everyone with an interest in this game has already played through it multiple times, so it may be a bit too late.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Ratfolk:
The sequel to Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, is a traditional CRPG that I enjoyed a lot, and I've been meaning to try the first in the series. But while WotR includes an anthro race in the vulpine Kitsune, Kingmaker only includes the standard human-like races. Ratfolk, an existing race in the Pathfinder tabletop RPG, could make for a fun addition to the game- they would definitely play up the humble origins to royalty narrative. I could possibly also switch some of the important NPCs to ratfolk, depending on narrative constraints. This would, however, be a pretty complicated mod to build and could take a while. From what I hear, Kingmaker is also a bit harder to get into than the sequel, which could narrow the appeal slightly.

That might conflict with V's cosmetics, though I'm not sure- I'll definitely look into that.

2023-02-19 19:26:27 +0000 UTCThanks for the reply~ You are doing great work anyway, looks like I can finally go back to 2077 and finish my main tasks lmao. Btw I used to think if it is possible for V to use a strong body like animal gang members... wondering if you consider to make that as an option.

2023-02-19 12:18:43 +0000 UTCI might put something like that together for my next play-through of the game- especially if Firaxis adds an option to skip the Abby content on NG+ runs. I'll probably want to wait until all of the DLC has been released before starting another run, however, so that I can try those out all at once. For the moment, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will win the current poll. I've already started working on getting custom character models into the game- it's a bit more difficult than expected, but looks like it should be possible. Though I plan to start by turning V into a jaguar, I'll most likely turn one or two of the romancable characters into canines- probably Panam into a coyote, or River into a wolf. I may also add a canine species as a second option for V.

2023-02-18 23:50:55 +0000 UTCThat does look like an interesting possibility. It also looks like it has pretty good mod support, which might make it possible to write some code to change the portraits based on councilor upgrades even if the base game doesn't support that. I'll add that as an option to the next poll.

2023-02-03 20:11:50 +0000 UTCThat's a good idea- I could explain them as the result of a parallel super-soldier project to the super-mutants. I'll add that option to the next poll.

2023-02-03 19:56:39 +0000 UTCHave you played Terra Invicta? My latest obsession, early access, grand strategy, space 4x. Anyway you have little agents (called councillors) and they have sorta 3D portraits in the corner. Terra Invicta does also have research to unlock cybernetic implants while they don't change the appearance you could certainly fit it into the lore as a research, that is if you made it a mid game unlock The game is fairly niche though and definitely not for everyone so I'm not sure how much of an audience there is.

2023-02-03 18:16:58 +0000 UTCIf you're accepting suggestions for other game mods, I would *love* to see Khajiit for Fallout 4, the lack of a good player character model mod is the main reason I haven't revisited the game. ^^

2023-02-03 15:37:21 +0000 UTCThanks! If you have any other ideas for games you'd like to see modded, let me know and I'll see about adding those to future polls.

2023-02-03 08:10:50 +0000 UTCThat does look like it has potential, especially since it looks like the game already has rigging for tails and digitigrade feet. I definitely enjoyed playing the Tigrans in the previous game- even if I don't add a new race, I'll probably at least put together a small mod to improve the fur textures slightly and give them the right number of toes.

2023-02-03 08:09:55 +0000 UTCNice. Btw have you seen Age of Wonders 4 (https://youtu.be/w7pKeH1cLb4) now they separated Race even more so it has great modding potential.

2023-02-03 07:36:43 +0000 UTCThe next mod after this one will probably be for Starfield- assuming the reviews are decent- but I may eventually get around to making several of these.

2023-02-03 07:32:38 +0000 UTCWow. All of them are great if I could I vote for all of them.
