A standard tool in storytelling is to provide the viewer with a chunk of information or an important truth, but in exchange something must happen that sets the characters back. Maybe they find an artifact in a temple and taking it activates a trap. Maybe they discover the identity of a betrayer but now they're hunted by law enforcement. Whatever the story, information comes with a cost, the only rule is that the setback needs to be quickly resolved and yet potentially be where the story ends if the hero were to fail the challenge. The reward on its own is not equal to the risk.
