THE FOLLOWUP: Storyboards, concept art and extras

Starting work for the day can be tricky when a project has so many angles to approach it from, one area I particularly struggle with is scene setting.

Figuring out the camera angle, focal length, the staging of the characters can be challenging, so every morning before even turning on my computer I'd grab a cup of coffee (decaf because I am morally, mentally and physically better than you. A honed in beast. A creature of the daywind. Monstrous in my discipline -- disgusting.) and sit down for 10 to 20 minutes drawing out what I was doing that day.

Sometimes the drawings look like this, a structureless collage of characters, poses and concepts:

Other times they were more focused, the following are a handful of storyboards that ended up pretty closely matching what you see in the final video:

In Chief's introduction scene, he was originally going to be reading a book, apparently somewhere in the production process he lost interest in reading airplane safety pamphlets over and over again.

In this picture, Chief's design is FINALLY finalized:

You'll note that despite this being his "finalized design", bits and pieces of his aesthetics were tweaked here and there, specifically his elbow cuff and 'pant flaps'. This is due to me being a piece of shit and not wanting to animate two 'pant flaps' over and over again for weeks on end.

--Aaaaaaaand that's that! I hope you guys have been digging the characters and story that I want to continue to develop and grow. Some of the kind messages and art I've been seeing in my inbox has been a serious joy to see and really sparks my mind to keep working on this project.

This whole show is only possible because of you, so until it devolves into garbage and people leave, I can't wait to get started on next episode.
