I love Keith so much! His and Veronica's relationship has to be one of my favourite things about this show. It's great that even though he is worried for her and rightfully calls her out for getting herself in danger without anyone to back her up he decides to help her. As you said, he knows she'll never back out and I think it's a really good decision on his end to decide he'll let her know he's someone she can count on. He knows that trying to forbid her from looking into the case would only make her hide more things from him and inevitably lead to her getting in more dangerous situations with no one there to protect her.
