It’s been a while, so I decided it’s time to give an update on how things are going.
I have finished most of the things I wanted to do. The small scenes that I wanted to add turned out to be way bigger than initially planned. Mainly because I’ve added A LOT of assets to it to make the map more unique and special. Then I didn’t want to waste the work spent on it, so I made the scenes a bit longer. I think it came out really good, can’t wait till you see it yourself. It’s the first time I’ve done it to this scale and I think it came out really well.
The dynamic camera I’ve been talking about turned out to be a double-edged axe. Sometimes it does work really great, other times it’s just awful. All seemed fine as I was testing it at the start, but since not every shot is the same, some of them just didn't turn out that well. I’ve been reworking some renders here to improve the experience, and even though I don’t believe it’s perfect, some renders just went to trash because of it, and I don’t want to keep reworking all of them. So characters will be moving less this time. SORRY!
The good part is that I’m sure it’s going to be great in the future since I’ve got experience with it now. On top of it, from now on I’m going to write the code from the start and test as I write.
Atm I’m working on the last scene of the update. Some renders need to be reworked, new animation needs to be made from scratch. Other than that, I’m still editing and adding sfx and music to it. You’ll hear some new music btw!
I’m not giving any date. Also, from now on I’m not going to answer when questions, since when they come I just can’t stop myself from answering and looking like a moron when I keep missing dates. In the end, we all want the game to be as good as possible, and trust me, no one wants the updates to come out fast as much as I do. This should be the last progress report before the release, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
I won’t stop doing experiments like these in the future because without them I would never improve. This patch, however, suffered too much because of them, so in the future I’ll relax with them so I won’t get stuck in struggles like I did now.
Anyway...
Here’s what I’ve done:
~100 renders.
A lot of sfx and music added.
~1300 lines of code written.
