Considering the current situation

This post isn't political, I just want to make sure that you're taking proper care of your mental health amongst the chaos. I know it may seem selfish to care about oneself in moments like these, but I assure you that if you're well taken care of, if your cup is full and abundant, then you're also going to be able to fill others', and properly and energetically take care of them if needed.
So here are some tips to follow to give your mind a bit of rest between atrocities and sad news:
1. LIMIT YOUR MEDIA EXPOSURE - I know you might feel helpless and the only thing that you can actually do is keep yourself informed on the situation, and in some ways you're right. But everything in excess becomes a danger to us. If you feel anxiety building up lock your phone and search on Youtube "10 minutes relaxing stretching".
2. EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS - Please don't bottle up the emotions surfacing right now: the feeling of injustice, the helplessness, the fear, take a deep breath and remember to hug them tight whenever they're coming. They're trying to teach you something about yourself and if you're too busy to listen, self-resentment might start to build.
3. LIMIT DEBATES AND CONTROVERSIAL DISCUSSIONS - You can't be in a state of tension all the time. At some point you'll have to give your poor body a break, and whenever you decide it's time to get yourself some love make sure to include some breathing exercise or even try a guided meditation. I have a couple on my page <3
4. BREATH BEFORE COMMENTING - really take a moment before you engage with content to ask yourself the question: am I spreading knowledge or am I spreading hate? Very often we can get carried away and become more focused on ridiculing or minimizing the other side. The trick is to make sure they receive as little attention as possible, and if they are to be given attention, let it be only to hold them accountable, while making sure we hold accountable ourselves too.
Other than that my thoughts and prayers are going to all the human lives being lost right now. It's so sad and tragic that in 2023 we still need to recur to something so barbaric and cruel as war, but unfortunately this is where we are. If this shows us anything it should be that we have a long way to build a world in which innocent lives are not sacrificed for money, politics, or power.
Take care of yourselves <3
