Why I Didn’t Speak Up

I didn’t speak up for so long because I thought no one would believe me.

Bullied by creators with larger social accounts than I had, they believed they had more influence than me so they would get away with it. I believed that too.

I was wrong.

When you listen to and believe victims you give us strength we need to become survivors. When wise people use their skills to assist victims, they give us a way to escape the abuse. When highly trained and experienced advocates listen to us and help us examine the evidence for patterns and connections, they give us hope for the possibility of some kind of justice. When our friends and family support and grieve with us and refuse to judge, we find a way to make it through the next day.

Believe victims and watch us turn into survivors.

❤️❤️❤️

P.S. Your support here has been one of the main things keeping me going. Literally. My fight to get my life back from a vicious stalker who hacked my phone and tried to ruin my life, that fight has taken every bit of energy and focus I have. The financial and emotional support of this community has meant more to me than I can adequately express. Thank you.

It takes strength to speak on what you're going through. To reveal these moments that push you, try you and drain you at off points. You're going to come out of it on the other end better and stronger than ever before. 🫶🏿❤️❤️

I believe you. We’re all happy to do whatever each of us can to give you the support you need— emotional, financial, acceptance, or even just friendly internet distraction. Don’t be shy to ask for help! We wouldn’t be here if we weren’t Team Carissa. 🤗
