I Sing Better Alone

I don’t have the most beautiful singing voice ever, I am aware. But singing in front of other people has always been an issue for me. I’m way more timid and my voice is smaller and weaker. I’ve never figured out how to work past this.

Driving home tonight I was singing along with whatever music I was listening to and realized… I always sing better when I’m alone.

There’s a lot to unpack there.

Currently, I’m in a place in life where yet again I have to trash my playlist because of songs that had made me smile and feel happy but now make me cry and my whole body hurts with sadness and loneliness. Not great.

I made a new playlist tonight and here are some of the songs on it (would you say I have a theme going here?):

abcdefu (Gayle)

Exile (Taylor Swift)

Good 4 u (Olivia Rodrigo)

If We Ever Broke Up (Mae Stephens)

See Through (The Band Camino)

Same Lover (Semler)

Anti-Hero (Taylor Swift)

Mean (Madeline the Person)

Don’t Tell Anyone (Semler)

Happier Than Ever (Billie Eilish)

Vigilante Shit (Taylor Swift)

What’s on your playlist?

Event DJ here so don’t even ask for the music I have stocked away 😂 But so understand that moment when you realize the music you are feeding yourself is breaking you down. And shifting the paradigm on yourself.

Over the summer off and on I listened the the classic rock top 1000 of all time.On Sirius XM radio. So many brilliant songs and masterful lyrics. Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Beatles etc. For songs there are many to choose from that may help with your mental health journey. Pink Floyd is a great start. Time, Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb are a good place to start.
