Poll for March & April
Added 2025-02-02 10:44:31 +0000 UTCHi everybody,
as I am working on the final touches for the Sewers coming this month, it is time to vote for March & April!
Some of you have suggested making a poll just for the older releases (Temple, Pyramid & Nautiloid) so that they can see the light of day. It makes sense, and I may do something like that in the future, but I am so hyped about the new entries that I decided to postpone "forcing" the focus on those releases. I am also doing a double poll this month so that I'll know in advance what April's theme will be too, to have more time to finalize that release. It is also a way to let some of the more underdog entries shine. The theme with more votes will be March, the second most voted will be April.
But what are these new entries? The Machines of the Dominus Mutator and Hell! round 2.
The first is a follow up to the Sewers: it will have walls that are compatible with the coming set (see the previous post), and it will basically be a special room that focuses on a steampunk aesthetic, weird tanks of alchemical solutions, machine monstrous mutations, and so on. The idea is also to make high walls with wooden scaffolding that can be added to most dungeon walls to create more 3D encounters. From one of them, a huge half machine monstrosity will be hanging as a centerpiece (you can picture the inspiration as Singed’s lab in Arcane).
The second is a follow up to Hell! I believe that I could design dozens of sets to enrich the (currently very natural) hellish landscape released last month. As some of you ask: where are the tortured souls that ended up there? I agree: this part #2 release will have more fiendish artifacts and tortured souls galore! I think I’ll rely on Dante’s aesthetic in the Divine Comedy for some of them. For example, the image of souls transformed in twisted trees that bleed when damaged sounds inspiring for some designs (and this will also keep the release versatile - after all who doesn’t like a cursed forest with cursed-people trees?).
As always, suggestions for future releases are highly appreciated: they help me a lot to understand what you want to see and print, so feel free to write them here or in DMs and I’ll start making projects.
May the best location win!
The Nautiloid Sanctum. Walls of flesh pulse like the heartbeat of a gargantuan creature: its organs are carved into rooms, its tissues into tables and menacing pods. Something moves inside these living tanks. - Mind flayer themed objects and props with pods, vats, psy-cannons and other living flesh contraptions. There should also be an OpenLOCK set to make nautiloid rooms, but that depends on the volume of scatter terrain, which is the main part of the release.
The Pyramid of the Sun. Many steps lead to the Altar of the Sun where the high priest communes with the Gods. Below, in the depth of the pyramid, many treasures sacred to the Serpent, the Lotus and the Macaw are guarded by silent wardens. - A mesoamerican pyramid (OpenLOCK set) with playable interiors and ritual objects and props, as well as its secret treasures and its stone snake wardens.
The Temple of Flowing Sand. A lonely temple in a valley of dead kings, resting for eternity. The sea of sand flows free between its colonnades. They say that in its deepest chamber the high priestess is still pondering the sky. - Ancient Egyptian style temple (OpenLOCK) with a decorated entrance, funerary objects and props, obelisks and colonnades.
The Avrean Arena. The crowd howls as the grates open. Which monsters, which ruthless warriors will cross the burning, blood stained sand and face in the Avrean Arena this day? There is only one certainty. It will end in blood. - A set containing the modular OpenLOCK walls of the arena. This set will be about the lower walls in front of which the combat happens, with Objects and Props related to the fight itself and a centrepiece for the greatest spectacles that the Avrean Arenas can offer. With this you’ll also be able to build the intricate interiors of the Arena itself, but not the crowd stands, which will be designed in the following set. (The inside of the Arena will be open and free - printing large slabs of sand doesn’t make much sense).
The Theatre. Rows and rows of seats, filled with a silent audience, mesmerized by the tragedy taking place on the wooden stage. Wooden masks, painted backdrops, lacerating fiction, palpable tension: the perfect setup for the killer to strike. Will the heroes stop them in time? - A set containing the modular OpenLOCK stands of the crowd, with a parapet for the audience and the stage of the theater itself. Objects and Props will revolve around what you can find on a fantasy ancient stage and among the rows of seats of the audience. This set will be compatible with the Arena and is designed to complete it as a full structure.
The Thornhold. Root and rock, sturdiest of all things, fortify the walls of the druids. Inside these rooms beasts, plants, ancient secrets and all kinds of druidic magic are safe. It’s said that a druid in need can call for protection from the earth and if their bond is true enough their last bit of humanity will be consumed, and a Thornhold will grow around them. - This Druidic fortress will be composed of OpenLOCK and non-OpenLOCK tiles: the floors will be natural, of rock and root, while the walls will be made of thorn bramble and large stones. The aim with this set is to make dungeon tiles (so no “exterior” walls), but there will be a way to over the OpenLOCK mechanism (e.g. the Draugar Ruins). Objects and Props will be druidic in theme and scope, and the centerpiece of this set will be the druid around whom the Thornhold grew: encased in a large tree but still living, joined in a close bond with nature.
The Trees of the Eternal Vigil. No wind is strong enough to bend the trunks of these massive trees, making them perfect watch towers for the Elves to protect their forests. They say their growth has no natural end but that of time itself. - The aim of this set is to make gargantuan tree trunks (15 inches high) without a canopy (unless for some reason the process of making them ends up faster than expected) but with massive roots. One of these alone should make a great battlefield scenario, and with the modular platforms, bridges and structures that grow around them you’ll be able to create a small Sylvan elven outpost or refuge, even a village if you print more than one of them. I always wanted to make treetop buildings! Objects and props will be Sylvan Elves themed.
Machines of the Dominus Mutator. Reading on an ancient Avrean text, the adepts of the alchemist self described as Dominus Mutator tinker with rows of complex machines and mechanisms stacked high in the underground of the city. With their sweat and blood - literal, at times - they are creating the ultimate creation: a chimera, synthesis of all creatures. - This set will have modular OpenLOCK tiles compatible with the sewer set but with a more elaborated look (you can expect a lot of metal bits). Objects and props will be chempunk in nature and vibe. There will also be wooden scaffoldings for the walls to make the set more rickety (and fights in it more 3D) as well as creature parts on which the alchemists are working (I am thinking large, weird bits of monster, which you’ll be able to use in other environments too).
Hell! #2. The scorching winds of hell can be a gentle breeze compared to the eternal torture lost souls are condemned to. Wails accompany the laughter of demons and the cracking of wood, rock and fire alike. - This set will have more fiendish artifacts - this time with small scatter terrain elements of architecture - while the main focus of this release will be the two sets of tortured souls - one of souls merged with trees, and one of chained souls (for the appearance of these I think I’ll go for stylized silhouettes: recognizable as humanoid but ghostly enough to be versatile).
That’s it! I’ll be collecting results in a couple of weeks.
Thank you for the support, I wish you a happy hobby time :D

I was just trying to figure out how to do large Redwood type trees for an Elven community. Crossing fingers, this is the one!
