Hi everybody,
the final part of the release is up!
Two more sets join the Stalactites and Crystals:
- Mushroom Modular Forest. They are tree-like in dimension, modular and playable: you can place minis on top of them! (Couldn't not make them so after BG3!) You can assemble them as you like by joining any stalk/base to any cap (these come in 2, 3 and 4 inches dimensions). You can glue them in place or you can use 6mmx2mm magnets (in the stalks and caps) to keep them as modular as possible.
There are also smaller growths coming with the set. Those can be used to blend the huge mushrooms in with other terrain or to make fey mushroom fields, an underdark cave's undegrowth, and so on.
All of these shrooms have a base made of soil and stones that you can use and paint as is or on which you can put hobby basing materials to give them an extra edge. These bases are meant to be sturdy and allow these mushrooms to stand on the battlefield even with minis on top, but you can always hollow them out if you want to save resin. If you feel like you want to make your own combinations of mushrooms or your own customized bases, you can use the "free" stalks variant or the "free" smaller mushrooms and place them on any piece of terrain or even miniature base. Plus, you can rescale any of these models to fit your specific needs. Customizability was a focus of this project :)
The texture on the mushroom heads should work great with a varnish on top, and if you want them to be smoother you can cover them with materials like vinyl glue that will transform the fleshy texture into a glossy and bumpy surface. Finally, if you want these models to stand on the battlefield with more stability you can glue a sheet of tin foil on the bottom of their bases and use magnetized sheets under your battlemat or grid paper so that they won't topple over even with the clumsiest of players.
I think it is a set that has a lot of potential and utilty, as well as being very playable. I'm proud of how it came out, and I can't wait to see what you make with it!
- Carnivorous Plants. These ones require a bit less explaining: they are what you see! Kind of weird, kind of scary when they attack. I went with a design that could be used for the underdark, feywild, jungles and any alien-like location. The different poses make for an interesting table moment: these otherwordly plants can sit there resting while characters fight some encounter just to spring to attack with their sticky tongue at the most advantageous moment. A nice way to turn the tide of battle that gives an "oh, no..." moment to players when they see you exchange the closed plans with their toothy open versions.
That is it for now! Both sets are up on the drive link and on MMF. On Monday I will be closing the poll, so be sure to vote for the release you want to see next :)
Thanks a lot for the support! I wish a happy hobby times :D
