Poll for June & July!

Hi everybody,

I am posting the poll for the next release. Two more entries join the list: the Spider Den and Underdark Flora.

The last few releases have been "structure heavy", with OpenLOCK tiles (The Bazaar, the Mausoleum) or the siege tower from this month, which does not use OpenLOCK tiles (mainly to save resin), but is still massive. I feel drawn to make a release more directed at scatter terrain and/or a very dramatic center piece like the Gate to the Sea of Stars (if a suitable release gets voted for, of course), hence the two new entries :) The Spider Den is a dark elf shrine dedicated to a spider god and the taming and raising of spiders. I went for Underdark Flora as a vibe for the first Underdark set I make because I think that what defines the World Below the most are its monster and its alien environment. Without them it would feel just like a web of deep caves: hopefully these scatter terrain pieces will bring it to life.

It has been a while since the last poll, so I want to try something new with this one. The release coming this June will be the most voted one, while for July I will be making the one that comes second. This could give a good chance to win to some entries that have not yet seen the light of day and have often been second, but never first (...Hell? :D)

As always, if you have suggestions for future themes/releases, write them in the comments or message them to me and I'll do my best to include them.

That said: may the best location win!

The Spider Den. The sharp kiss of a spider doesn't always mean death. Those who are poisoned and hung waiting to be eaten soon lose hope and wish to be dead. Those who end up under the claws of a Spider Priest, however, have a far worse fate. - This set will have a huge central spider statue with an altar, web cocoons, spider eggs, captured prey and elements of dark Elven architecture.

Underdark Flora. Those who have never seen the World Below gaze in awe at its deep caverns, bright mushrooms and colorful crystals. When they hear the screeches and their lights fade, they soon remember of the fragility of their fleshy bodies. Even plants crave them here. - This set will have scatter terrain crystal growths, weird vegetation, giant mushrooms and carnivorous plants, with the usual set of details to furnish underground encounters.

The Nautiloid Sanctum. Walls of flesh pulse like the heartbeat of a gargantuan creature: its organs are carved into rooms, its tissues into tables and menacing pods. Something moves inside these living tanks. - Mind flayer themed objects and props with pods, vats, psy-cannons and other living flesh contraptions. There should also be an OpenLOCK set to make nautiloid rooms, but that depends on the volume of scatter terrain, which is the main part of the release.

Hell! Scourging heat and blood-chilling wails: there is no mistaking the smell of sulfur and desperation that pollutes the air. We are in hell… - Jagged rocks, runic stones and devilish bone-structures: everything that you’d expect in fantasy hellish planes. With an Oblivion style portal to the lower hells!

The Blueteeth Tribe Camp. When the sun fades, the cries and laughter of the Blueteeth Camps can be heard from a great distance. Their brawling contests are as legendary as their skill in hunting, which are proven by the gargantuan corpses from which they build their homes. This fame alone is strong enough to dissuade lesser tribes from battling them. - A barbarian camp with tents and huts made from the remains of giant beats: ribcages, horns and hides. To furnish them, hunting objects and props as well as the everyday life items of the barbarians.

The Pyramid of the Sun. Many steps lead to the Altar of the Sun where the high priest communes with the Gods. Below, in the depth of the pyramid, many treasures sacred to the Serpent, the Lotus and the Macaw are guarded by silent wardens. - A mesoamerican pyramid (OpenLOCK set) with playable interiors and ritual objects and props, as well as its secret treasures and its stone snake wardens.

The Temple of Flowing Sand. A lonely temple in a valley of dead kings, resting for eternity. The sea of sand flows free between its colonnades. They say that in its deepest chamber the high priestess is still pondering the sky. - Ancient Egyptian style temple (OpenLOCK) with a decorated entrance, funerary objects and props, obelisks and colonnades.

The Labyrinth. A thin rope made of red silk. "If you lose this, you will be lost." They ventured between the towering rock walls of the house of Asterius, never to be seen again. - A greek-style labyrinth terrain (OpenLOCK set), with greek themed objects and props and the lair of the minotaur! The Avrean Oracle is a good example of its style.

Thank you for the support, and I wish you a happy hobby time! :D

It's frustrating because so many people pick the same things that are already out there 500 different ways and don't care for or understand the value of adding NEW things into the catalog. It's that thing where people go "Oh! I know that! Let's select that!" which isn't very helpful. And frankly, it risks having the material become rote, common, uncompetitive, uninspired, and worst of all, boring. I just ask that people not be afraid to take risks and expect more from the work. This artist can do amazing things but can only do so much with such heavily traveled trails like Underdark terrain and other super common locations with dozens of other artists covering that setting over and over. Just try to go out of your comfort zone and challenge the artist and I promise you that you will see something amazing from him. You can always change your vote and vote for more than one (depending on the poll.)

I know it could be tricky, if you tried to do it without telling anyone until it is complete and don't commit (just make it a special promo that sometimes is offered) then that can mitigate risk and alleviate stress.

Thanks a lot for the kind words! I have thought a lot about making sci-fi and modern terrain, and I'd love to do that. It would probably take the shape of a second page not to alienate anybody that does just fantasy, but the main issue there is time! As soon as I can get someone to help me with the process, that's high on the list - with a Discord server, that's much needed too :)

I have thought about it and did some research: it's a great idea, but kind of hard to implement. I'll look more into it :)

Have you ever thought about doing a joint collaboration with another maker who does adventurers, creatures and other things you do not do - that way we have an option to grab minis to go with your bundle and you get to cross promote possibly attracting more patrons?

I'm at a toss up between pyramid and labyrinth.
