Poll for March!
Added 2024-01-23 21:40:24 +0000 UTCHi everybody,
it is time to vote for March! As I mentioned in the last post, the new entry to the poll will be a mausoleum. The idea is to give an apse to the cathedral just released, while adding a few customizable options to it (gargoyles!). The style will be the same - fantasy gothic - and It will be a self contained set that will be playable as a single round structure. I hope you'll find something you like in there :)
The Mausoleum of the Martyr. As the darkest shadows approach, only a single cleric of Mitharras stands in the middle of the Mausoleum, chanting. Kneeling all around them, the survivors of the knight assault. Candles are the only source of light left, as the stained glass windows become wells of darkness. They flicker and the survivor’s faith does too. - A round OpenLOCK gothic mausoleum compatible with the cathedral. The objects and props will revolve around the main altar at the center of the mausoleum, and there will definitely be gargoyles and decorations that can be added to this set and to the cathedral as well.
The Nautiloid Sanctum. Walls of flesh pulse like the heartbeat of a gargantuan creature: its organs are carved into rooms, its tissues into tables and menacing pods. Something moves inside these living tanks. - Mind flayer themed objects and props with pods, vats, psy-cannons and other living flesh contraptions. There should also be an OpenLOCK set to make nautiloid rooms, but that depends on the volume of scatter terrain, which is the main part of the release.
The Siege Tower. The sound of battle cries, orders and the clashing of swords fill the air. Catapults and ballistas spit their death on the town’s wall, but the eyes of the besieged widen in fear at the sight of the towers: slow but steady, approaching the bastions with their load of screaming foes. - A modular siege tower that can also be built as a solid wooden outpost. Objects and Props will contain anything useful in a siege and a few customization options to change the siege engine to non-human races (I’m thinking orcs, inspired by that iconic Pelennor look!).
Hell! Scourging heat and blood-chilling wails: there is no mistaking the smell of sulfur and desperation that pollutes the air. We are in hell… - Jagged rocks, runic stones and devilish bone-structures: everything that you’d expect in fantasy hellish planes. With an Oblivion style portal to the lower hells!
The Blueteeth Tribe Camp. When the sun fades, the cries and laughter of the Blueteeth Camps can be heard from a great distance. Their brawling contests are as legendary as their skill in hunting, which are proven by the gargantuan corpses from which they build their homes. This fame alone is strong enough to dissuade lesser tribes from battling them. - A barbarian camp with tents and huts made from the remains of giant beats: ribcages, horns and hides. To furnish them, hunting objects and props as well as the everyday life items of the barbarians.
The Pyramid of the Sun. Many steps lead to the Altar of the Sun where the high priest communes with the Gods. Below, in the depth of the pyramid, many treasures sacred to the Serpent, the Lotus and the Macaw are guarded by silent wardens. - A mesoamerican pyramid (OpenLOCK set) with playable interiors and ritual objects and props, as well as its secret treasures and its stone snake wardens.
The Temple of Flowing Sand. A lonely temple in a valley of dead kings, resting for eternity. The sea of sand flows free between its colonnades. They say that in its deepest chamber the high priestess is still pondering the sky. - Ancient Egyptian style temple (OpenLOCK) with a decorated entrance, funerary objects and props, obelisks and colonnades.
Al'Nab, the Oasis. Thirsty and famished travelers often end up in Al'Nab with a sigh of relief. Although its name may seem ominous - the Tusk - it is a peaceful place... as long as you stay in your tent at night. - A fantasy Persia themed set, with a modular bazaar (OpenLOCK set), its precious contents as Objects and Props, and camels!
The Labyrinth. A thin rope made of red silk. "If you lose this, you will be lost." They ventured between the towering rock walls of the house of Asterius, never to be seen again. - A greek-style labyrinth terrain (OpenLOCK set), with greek themed objects and props and the lair of the minotaur! The Avrean Oracle is a good example of its style.
That’s it! I’ll be collecting results in the first days of February.
Supports for the current release are up, as well as a couple of fixes to - mainly - the roof models. The Cultist set and the WIP for next month are coming soon. Once again, thanks for the patience!
Also, if you have trouble accessing the files or you didn’t receive a message from MMF to redeem them, send me a dm and I’ll sort it out :)
Thank you for the support, and I wish you a happy hobby time!
Comments
I didn't see the other comment! Yes, it is something I have thought about, especially because of the nature of these sets. Each release has Objects & Props, for example, which are usually fitting in more than the location they are in. Since each month I make a complete location, this leads to various sculpts for the "same model". I think this is a good thing because it gives more options (e.g. there are around ten different crates right now split between very old and very recent releases), but after a while variety becomes enough variety, and time spent on sculpting crates that would furnish a location could be spent on more details specific to that location. Including older models as a throwback in a given release should help with this: more time to make new detailed location-specific models while at the same time giving all the usual fantasy stuff you expect in it to furnish it. As soon as I make something like this I'll be sure to explain what's happening in the release post :)
