I collect physical video games (mostly Xbox 360) I totally agree. Physical is the way to go. I think it would be really cool for you to design trading cards for each convention you do. Make it common practice to have friends, people you play games with, people you're a fan of. Sign those cards. You can put them in a binder to keep as a reminder of each event. Heck I may start doing this at my locals have my opponents sign a trading card and I'll just make a slowly built physical representation of all the experiences I've been lucky enough to have.

I had been downsizing a lot of my collection this past month, and got into a good talk with my therapist on how cards are like talismans. They hold memory, sifting through and sorting a box, disassembling decks, that's reliving and cutting off those experiences all at once. I held up a 5000 count box and went, "its gonna take a day to go through this and I'm gonna relive a decade of moments and have to decide what's worth keeping to relive again"
