Quiet Timeline 5 Alpha 1 Preview

I've been swamped lately, so instead of making you all wait for me to test things and finish adding the QoL features I envision, I'll let you try the current, poorly tested build. This is an opportunity to give feedback, and for those of you who were waiting for some features Timeline 5 contains, you should be able to use them.

If you want to build a scene and release it, you can use Timeline 5 and before packaging, switch back to the last Timeline 4 versions, it's "forward compatible".

I have to work on documentation and a formal features list, but here's an except of what this build contains (you might have to guess where some of those features are):

- Full-height dope sheet and curve view with pan & zoom
- Direct to Timeline, live mocap recording without going through Scene Animation
- Morphs live recording (e.g. Leap Motion fingers motion can be recorded and played back)
- Up to a thousand (1000) fps during recording and playback, no more limits on display
- Much improved keyframe reduction (flat areas detection, staged keyframe removal, etc) which can be used  for smoothing as well as simply allowing sane manual tweaks, with the  ability to backup and restore so you can tweak your settings
- Timeline Diagnostics which detects typical hard-to-guess situations and analyzes the scene
- UI improvements, such as separating float params in sections in the dope sheet
- Ability to select targets to add in the scene instead of through a drop down
- Match real time rather than game time, so you can sync with music more reliably

There's more but I've been working on v5 since 3-4 months ago so I lost track! As usual, let me know what you all think!

My plan for the next month is to complete Timeline 5, then go back to my previous plugins and finish them so they can go out of early access.

Comments

Only the Leap Motion is supported at the moment (I'm saying "at the moment" but I don't have plans to implement the other methods in the foreseable future though!)

Acid Bubbles

What equipment do I need to do the finger mocap? Currently I only have an Index which isn't super accurate.

I'll have a play with this today. Thanks for your hard work Acidbubble. Now to make a scene worthy of the functionality.

XRWizard

thanks AB, going to test this today

Vitlam
