Timeline 5 Progress & Poll
Added 2021-05-07 21:09:14 +0000 UTCHey fellow vammers! Now that Glance, DesktopLeap and Embody are out, I'm back working on Timeline. I already have great things working:
- Direct to Timeline, live mocap recording without going through Scene Animation
- Morphs live recording (e.g. Leap Motion fingers motion can be recorded and played back)
- Up to a thousand (1000) fps during recording and playback
- Much improved keyframe reduction (flat areas detection, staged keyframe removal, etc) which can be used for smoothing as well as simply allowing sane manual tweaks, with the ability to backup and restore so you can tweak your settings
- Timeline Diagnostics which detects typical hard-to-guess situations and analyzes the scene
- UI improvements, such as separating float params in sections in the dope sheet
- Ability to select targets to add in the scene instead of through a drop down
- Match real time rather than game time, so you can sync with music more reliably
That already makes Timeline a much better option for mocap in general. Now, I'm wondering what should I focus on next, I'm curious to hear what you think?
And if what you'd like first is not on there, and what would it be?

That could be a good idea yeah, or sort by sequencing... I'm taking a note :)

2021-05-27 01:21:41 +0000 UTCSort alphabetically or numerically?

2021-05-25 04:19:41 +0000 UTCYou can manually sort them in Manage Animations, though there's no "auto-sort". Otherwise, how would you see this working?
Acid Bubbles
2021-05-25 04:08:39 +0000 UTCAny chance to sort the animations or create folders within the list on the right? Some of my scenes have 50 plus animations and can be tricky to manage.

2021-05-24 19:15:39 +0000 UTCThis is a good idea, and would be a good fit for the "bulk edit" screen. Let me see if I can do that easily. Otherwise I could also make a "Remove before time" and "Remove after time", that's 2 steps but at least, no math :P

2021-05-23 02:22:27 +0000 UTCI often cut my mocaps and it's a little frustrating sometimes to cut the portion I like from the whole mocap as you need to manually calculate the lengths. I'd like two input boxes where I enter start time, finish time and an Apply button. Should leave the portion within the markers and cut the rest

2021-05-08 23:47:24 +0000 UTCIs it already possible to start a specific animation when a certain variable is within a certain range? Say variable A < 0.4 play Anim 1, var A < 0.6 play Anim 2 etc ? (probably not the right place to ask, but would love to have more control over what and when without scripting)

2021-05-08 11:35:26 +0000 UTCYou're a machine AcidBubbles. I'm so excited for timeline 5, can't wait!

2021-05-07 23:48:51 +0000 UTCIt means I can record and playback with a 0.0001s precision, versus 0.1s with the current version of Timeline for mocap import :)
Acid Bubbles
2021-05-07 23:24:41 +0000 UTCIt's challenging on a UI standpoint though (especially in VR)!

2021-05-07 23:24:00 +0000 UTCWhat is the "up to 1000fps during recording and playback" mean?

2021-05-07 21:11:33 +0000 UTCAbility to pan & zoom to work on segments of a longer animation would be huge!
