BLOG : FIRST AIRBRUSH ATTEMPT!

.... And it was an absolute failure! T_T

Though it was real fun and a big learning experience! In part i just wasn't ready and well prepared for all the finicky little things I had to do! Check out the video I put together of my first attempt! You can skip to 1.40 for the commentary - Otherwise it's a fun little short story! (excuse the audio quality the mic was sampling some very heavy base from some music I was listening to)

The first thing that really messed things up was the humidity! Yes its a big factor when it comes to airbrush and spray painting, it causes the paint to bubble and frost all over if it gets too humid! and here' it's as humid as you can get! Generally I turn on the dehumdier for a bit - but because i also need to open the window for ventilation, there's only a small period where i have to get it all done before it gets too humid again!

The next thing is mixing the paints! I'm not too sure i got the measurements right (i'm pretty sure i did) but the paint just didn't seem like it wanted to adhere to model properly - preferring to clump together into puddles instead. Maybe i was holding the brush to close to the model I'll need more testing to figure it out!

Primer - the model i used was a much older model and I used a different primer for it which may not not have been compatible with these air brush paints! The solvents i used seemed to melt away the original primer a little! This I think was the biggest failing factor!

So tomorrow I will have to give the airbrushing another try again - when I can reset the room conditions again to a normal level!

I'm getting the opportunity to practice more on my ukulele whilst I'm waiting for the paint to dry and the room to ventilate! And Wow I'm looking DILFY currently! I think its the facial hair and rough ready look that's getting me there what do you guys think???
