Addressing Lotus Feedback

I sent out a feedback form earlier this month asking for Lotus feedback (here if you want to fill it out https://forms.gle/MoyYusrpKuz85LtK7 ) and wanted to summarize and address some of the points.

1. There is no healing and the game can be too hard if you get unlucky

I do want to introduce healing in the future, but I'm not sure how to do it to make it fair. Healing enables grinding, and if you can grind for stats, then the rest of the game is just easy mode. Maybe like one heal tile per level, and if you find it great, otherwise it may be strategic to just move on.

The game was structured to provide difficulty and a variance of runs when there's not a lot of features yet, so I'm hoping this gets addressed when Perks arrive. I can also start to think of some ways to make maps more interactive, rather than just avoiding traps.

2. Content

Glad that y'all are mostly satisfied.

-I have a friend currently working on a main theme for the game. Hopefully they can do more later. I'll have to look into sound design because I've never looked for sound effects before.
-I would love to have art for the characters, but I have yet to find an artist attached to the project. It's possible to brute force pictures with money but I don't think I have the financial power to back that yet.
-More loss scenes for bosses is a good idea. I'm going to try to finish out the 5th area first and the storyline before I go back and try to add more content to previous areas.

Also, people brought up concerns of encountering the same enemy/trap over and over. We can add in code to prevent you from getting the same twice in a row.

3. Favorite Enemy

I'm happy that people like a variety of enemies, it would be lame if everyone liked the same one. Most common answer was the Desert Empress.

4. Favorite Trap

There were a lot of Fae Glade traps. I'm worried I'm giving you guys Stockholm Syndrome. A lot of the Guest writers had popular traps, like the Sunstone or Lamia Massage. I'm considering going back and adding more text to some of my traps later, since they probably have less time/deliberation put into them compared to guest writers. Just out of the nature of me writing 30+ traps lol

5. Potential Traps/Enemies

I could see a Cavern area or a Haunted House being interesting. I'll think about how I might incorporate those into the lore. There's actually been an enemy written for an Ice area due to a miscommunication so that may happen eventually too.

CYOA content is an interesting one. Crazy how those have endured for this long.

Comments

If that Haunted House doesn't have a shoggoth in it, I'm gonna be upset. Not disappointed, Ill basically see it coming, just upset.
