The Joys (*sarcasm*) of Tinder (oh and P.S. SW IS WORK)

This includes professions like:
• Dance instructors
• Healers
• and Professional Companions
In my tinder bio, I mention this (without specifying who I do work for). Well, today I matched with someone and received a message saying “So are you a pimp? Joking, kind of”.
This is not the first time recently that I’ve had someone approach me commenting about pimps in relation to sex work. And while I do understand there are conflicting views on this and I’m not a SW and can’t speak for everyone, it’s also important to state a couple things here:
• The idea that a pimp is necessary for someone to work as a professional companion is bullsh*t
• pimping perpetuates a very harmful, very oppressive - and often abusive - narrative against professionals in the industry (it’s usually not consensual and is more equated with human trafficking)
• This is the antithesis of liberation. So just, what the fuck tinder dude?
So, if you’re someone who thinks this way.
Or who undervalued the work of professionals risking their physical, emotional, and mental safety to provide healing and necessary services.
Question yourself. Challenge the narratives you’ve internalized. Support the absolute liberation of sx workers.
