MC Notes: Recount 02 Saturday/Sunday

I write these notes just hours after we recorded the finale. Recount is our shortest season ever so this has bought us some really valuable time to plan our NEXT season even though for you, this one is just beginning. Anyways, let’s talk about episode 2!
One thing that you might notice about my GM style in this season is that it is very player directed and there’s a lot of pure roleplaying. I didn’t come into this campaign with any kind of plan or scheme for how the plot would shake out. For this reason you’ll hear the players frame their own scenes a lot. This more sandbox-y approach is newer to us as a whole group but it has been a fun exercise in collaboration for sure. We talk a lot out of character about how we want to pace things and what our goals are, which some people would call metagaming. But when you’re making Content ™, these conversations are really important for driving the plot forward in a way that edits down into 60 minutes of DRAMA.
One thing I hope you as listeners will find rewarding is how all the relationships in the game evolve over the course of a week. A lot of those foundations are set up pretty solidly in the first two episodes. Harmony is one of my favourite characters (and one of the only characters I actually made - the rest are the cast’s creation) and I think this episode is a fun introduction to them as I make Eli work hard to get that Band vote.
Things only get weirder and hotter and more dramatic from here.
