DM Notes: Lakeshore 16
Added 2020-09-01 16:00:06 +0000 UTCHello Patrons! As we barrel toward the end of Lakeshore, I feel like I shouldn't say too much! So much of my notes and thoughts and sprinting ahead toward the endgame of the campaign, and I don't want to spoil anything or give too much away. Here's a bit of what I can tell you:
We're starting to get into the episodes recorded in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recording like this was a real adjustment and it had its bumps. We all have had to work a lot harder to keep our energy up, to be present in each moment of the record, and navigate the joys and sorrows of digital recording.
Fun (?) fact: Jillian's internet was cursed by a mysterious old witch who lives on the roof of her house, which manifested as her connection cutting out constantly during long records. For some of her scenes in this and the previous episode, you may notice the lack of the rest of the cast chiming in. We actually recorded these sections separately with a setup that worked better for her.
This, unfortunately, meant that the cast couldn't be there to react to some events firsthand (the catchup with Roman at the beginning of this episode is not 100% fictional...). One advantage, though, is the crystal-clear focus on Susan and her motivations in this scene, especially as she gets into some really pivotal, character-defining stuff!
We also finally get to start bringing Kitty back to Lakeshore and the rest of the cast, and I love how playful and weird these scenes turned out, in a nice contrast to Susan's epic, high-stakes battle elsewhere. The only question is, what will happen to Kitty when she gets back into town and the gang gets together? It's clear the mayor's eyes travel far, and it's only a matter of time before our heroes start bringing even more attention upon themselves...
