DM Notes: Lakeshore 13

Here are some quick notes and fun facts about this episode of Lakeshore:

-The title of this episode comes from a 1970 Van Morrison song. Each Lakeshore episode is named after a song popular between the 1920s and 1940s--we had to make an exception for this song, which is quite jazzy, and fits the episode perfectly besides. Other considerations: Blue Moon, Moonlight Serenade.

-The discussion about it was partly cut for time and partly off mic, but from this episode until otherwise described, Kitty is being played with the Aware playbook: "Inquisitive, resourceful, intuitive, lucky. The Aware is a mortal investigator who has come to see the supernatural world for what it really is. They understand humanity isn't alone in the city and they're entranced by the shadows." I'd say that fits Kitty pretty well!

-Philip takes Kitty east for a vacation in a sort of lakeside resort. In terms of not-quite-Ontario, geography, I pictured them making their way to the Prince Edward County area, staying somewhere that looks like this:

(I spent a few summers in places like Lindsay and Wasaga Beach when I was a kid, which definitely inspired this choice as well. Ontario is a lot beachier than people give it credit for!)

-The gang in this episode finally learns the contents of the crate that Kitty foresaw aaaall the way back in episode 6, and it turns out to be the crystal Susan found aaaaall the way back in episode 2! It was tricky to sit on this info for so long as the story took its twists and turns, but it definitely helps get the sense across of these PCs working as independent investigators in a big, complicated city. There are a lot of leads to follow!

I may have prepared for this possibility coming up a few episodes ago--since the crystal was found with the ARQ, Angela Whitcomb seemed a likely contact--but the group was clearly drawn to the idea of busting into a casino, and I can't say I blame them!

That's all for now!
