First and foremost: Thank you ALL for supporting this project! It wouldn't be possible at the scale we're at without you patrons!
Second: Things on the Patreon have been fairly quiet. Mostly because there hasn't been many patron only updates as of late. If you aren't in the Support Discord, I highly recommend joining, as most of the updates posted there are the ones that get posted here (lik...

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to give you a heads up that we've made a change to our Privacy Policy (https://craig.chat/privacy/)
This isn't something done often, and usually only when the changes are needed; In this case it was to comply with Google's requirements to keep our Drive integration verified and...

Hi again so soon!
We are trying to get a better understanding of our user base! Please consider completing the following survey! We are looking to get a better idea of how you use Craig, and what we as the maintainers can do to improve the project, and to potentially help us aim towards some goals for future expansion! For those concerned about privacy, only Myself (Coolguy) an...

Afternoon everyone, and Happy 4th of July for those in the USA.
We understand there have been some massive changes to the Patreon and benefits with the new dashboard. We'll be posting a recap of everything that's changed for current Patrons, and updating the info for new Patrons to avoid confusion moving forward.
Thanks for all of your patience as we get things in order, ...

We are happy to announce the release date of Craig V2! This is the version of the bot currently running in the public beta bot.
The new version of Craig will hit all 3 bots (Craig, Giarc *and* Alistair) on on Saturday, June 18, 2022 7:30 PM Eastern Standard Time (UTC -0400); All three bots will go down for a period of about an hour and a half (shouldn't take this long) to upgrade al...

Hi Everybody,
I'd like to start by introducing myself (The writer behind the page), I'm Coolguy, in the discord Coolguy3289. I'm the new project lead for Craig, along with Snazzah.
This post being the first sign of life, the Patreon has been successfully transferred and we've relinked the tier to Discord. If you've recently subscribed and haven't joined the discord, please join to ...

Those who've been paying attention on the Craig Discord server know that I've decided to pass Craig on to new maintainers. The most sticky and weird part of this is Patreon. The Patreon will continue, and for most patrons, nothing will change.
If you're a long-term patron (started patronage before September 1st 2021) and are interested in ecastr.com, the offer still stands that l...

If you're following the Craig support server's announcements, you know that I am trying to find a replacement maintainer for Craig. There are three possible ways this can go:
(1) The ideal is that I will find a new maintainer, and for patrons and users, nothing will change except perhaps that some long-standing issues will be fixed. If this happens, the Patreon will be moved over to that ...

Today, ecastr.com leaves beta. It's a platform I could make thanks to patron support from Craig, so THANK YOU ALL!
Don't fear, I'm not abandoning Craig, and there's a lot of development overlap. Craig and Ennuicastr share all their audio processing code, and both benefit from each other. That being said, since Ennuicastr is an independent platform from Craig, this is the last...

If you don't care about standalone Ennuicastr (ecastr.com) and haven't been following that saga, feel free to ignore this update.
I am planning on taking ecastr.com out of beta on November 1st. During the beta it's free for everyone.
As promised, as thanks for helping me build it, Craig patrons will be given ecastr.com subscriptions. Since Craig and ecastr.com are different piece of...

Short version: If you're a patron, invite Alistair at https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=783088954114310165&scope=bot&permissions=0 , and use the prefix `:alistair:`. He should (may?) be more reliable than Craig.

Just a note for patrons, in case you didn't see the announcement on the server: Unfortunately, due to connection issues with Discord, I've had to disable all simultaneous recording—that is, Craig can currently only record one channel at a time per server. Since one of the patron benefits is an increased number of simultaneous channels (8 instead of 4), that benefit is currently inaccessible. ...

If you've been following in the Craig support server, you know that I've started a closed beta of a standalone Ennuicastr. It's based in concept, and to a lesser degree in software, on Craig, and certainly grew out of the Craig project, but is totally independent from Craig. Ennuicastr will not be free to use as Craig is, because the burden of actually being the voice chat server rather than pi...

Though not a lot has changed for Craig publicly, I've been doing some back-end work.
As I've said before, I intend for EnnuiCastr (browser-based recording) to be an independent service with its own voice chat (as well as an option for Craig, of course!), and I've been working on making that work. I hope to launch it some time next month, though probably then as a beta.
I'm looking i...

For the curious, what I've been working on recently is Ennuizel. It's a web-browser-based audio editor. I'm hoping I can use it to entice enough people to do some of the heavy lifting on the client side.
Some of you may recall that I used to have in-browser mixing in Craig. This used a simple tool, ffmpeg.js, to work. Unfortunately, while ffmpeg.js is certainly simple, it's extremely limi...

Well, we've hit $220, and that's the EnnuiCastr goal. The alpha version of EnnuiCastr is running and has had a few testers (thanks!). It's still not perfect, but I think it's at the point that I'm willing to release it publicly as a beta pretty soon.
[For those who don't know what EnnuiCastr is: Back channel to send audio to Craig via a webapp without Discord processing it and chewing it ...

Just realized I never posted about this here: I'm starting alpha testing of EnnuiCastr. EnnuiCastr is a side channel into Craig so that you can easily record without all the various steps of audio processing performed by Discord, and without network loss. At least, that's the principle. In practice, it's a web app that records audio and sends it off to Craig, which you can share with others whi...

Just to follow up on yesterday's post, there is certainly no consensus for *castr, so I'll be implementing backup Craig in the coming week or so.

I was in the process of writing code for the backup Craig when it occurred to me to ask the patrons a rather obvious question: Do y'all actually *want* a backup Craig? Craig's been pretty reliable for months, so maybe my effort would be better put elsewhere.
If there's a consensus among patrons, I'd be happy to replace the (met) backup goal with the zencastr alternative discussed in the previous...

Well, it looks like backup-Craig is going to be a real thing. For the curious this is how backup-Craig will work:
1. Backup-Craig is, necessarily, a separate bot. You'll have to invite him to your server to use him.
2. Backup-Craig will be patron-only, at the $1 tier (and higher). I'm possibly flexible on this.
3. Backup-Craig is just, well, a backup: He will not use different comma...

Thanks to the sheer girth (disk space girth that is...) of the new server, I'm able to up all the time limits.
Normal users now have seven days to fetch their audio. $1 patrons have 14, and $4 patrons have 30.
Cheers!

I've tentatively moved Craig to a new server. If you get download links at https://2.craig.chat/ , you're begin recorded on the new server!
I have MUCH more space now, so I should be able to increase everyone's download timeouts. The server itself is also far more powerful, so those with fast Internet connections should see faster dow...

This is the first month that Craig's brought in more than $70, which was the level set to get a new, better server. As said in the information on that level, I'm going to wait a second Patreon-month, as setting up a new server is a rather pricey and complicated thing, and patrons have been known to be fickle, but I'd like to thank you all again for helping to grow Craig. Barring too many unexpecte...

Thanks y'all for a surprisingly successful first month of Patreon. I must admit that it's nice to have the server costs covered.
As per the excess $17, I'm converting it into $22 Canadian, then losing a Loonie on the conversion, then blowing the remaining $21CAD on blackjack.
